I was looking at winches and I was wondering what would happen if I put a 1500lb atv winch on my lawn tractor. Would I be able to use it or would it not work because It is a 12 volt and my lawn tractor is a 6volt? I was figuring that I could use it but It might be less strong. Just an idea because my hand crank winch is SOOOO SLLOOOWWW doh

I reject your reality, and substitute my own.

Your lawn tractor is 6 volt?  confused
At any rate, I can't answer your question, but, if it were me, I wouldn't.   I've looked around, and found some people running 6v starters on 12v, but I couldn't find anything on running a 12v accessory on 6v.

i dont see how a 12v winch would work on a 6v system. if it did, it would work VERY slowly and most likely burn up the motor in the winch from trying to pull too many amps from the system.

I dont see why your system is 6V. it uses a 12V battery to start it doesnt it?

lol thought you would never get it.

Any good battery charger has a 6V setting. All lawnmowers made since like the 70s have a 12V system, cars too.

Add a battery meter gauge to your dashboard, you don't want to turn off the mower until the battery reads above 12v after winching or you might not be able to re-start it!

1500 would be more than enough. That's not a bad deal, but I've seen better ones for around the same price. Try to get something with a roller fairlead.
