I like garden tractors better for atlm, but the rules state not larger than 22in tire on 8 inch rim, while garden tractors have 23 on 12in rim, so am I out of luck?

Moved to the appropriate section....

As for the garden tractor, as long as it's a commercially produced machine originally manufactured for noncommercial
lawn-mowing, you can use it. The only thing you would need to do is get some 8" wheels on there and you would be set. I think you're best bet would be to change the drivetrain out for something else, not sure how else you would really get 8" wheels on there without massive modifications.

Some wheelhorse and airens lawn tractors had 3 bolt 8" rims that would fit on the 5 lug hubs on their larger machines.
The down side to this would be ground clearance.  You will not get the same clearance from a big cast iron garden tractor transaxle that a small aluminum lawn tractor will get with the same size tires.

I still say we change the rule but i have been saying that since we have been creating the rules back at heymow. I think thow if you were to take of the 5 bolt hub it would be a 3\4 shaft. I am also in the same prediciment.

Do you realize how big 22" tires really are?

Yea chris i run 21s on my gilson and 23s on my craftsman. Sept mine came stock. My atv runs 25s. I am well awhere how big they are. I have those 21s and i still managaed to get high centered. haha. That is why from the get go i said i did not like that rule. That is just my 2 cents. And you said about the sidwall flex but i feel 12 inches of flex is fine.
