"- Factory steering wheel must be retained"

According to that statement from the limited class rules, steering wheel must be factory.

Hold off on making this ruling final, Chris may allow a butterfly steering wheel, and or an upgraded steering wheel. I could see the change in rules to "a steering wheel most be used, whether upgraded or stock, no handle bars or bar attachments allowed."

ive done quite a bit of off roading with my mowers and found that unless your running a gearbox for your steering if you hit anything like a rock or stump it whips the wheel preety hard with that said i would not use anything but a wheel the result could be broken fingers

True, hitting a rock or log with direct steering CAN pull the wheel out of your hand, but if the direct steering is setup properly to give you the right amount of leveral on the linkages and spindles, you wont have much(if any) problems with it.  Think about most quads, theyre mostly direct steering with the right about of leverage.

I say we're going to stay with the factory steering wheel. What you can do if you like, is (AS LONG AS IT'S SAFE!!) make it like a race car, where you can quick-change the wheels. Keep your butterfly wheel on when testing, put the stock one back on when running with the crew. I wouldn't see a problem with that at all.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

If it is a factory handle bar setup like a snapper, the snapper bars can be used as the stock "steering wheel".
