Whats up chris and all the other mower heads. This is thelawnmowaman that started the craftsman with four link suspension and 24 gears. Ya that project had to be cancelled since i didnt have the parts i needed to make it happen then, and the drivetrain just needed better components. Since then Ive got myself a toro like chris' ive been playing with. I dont have any pics yet but will soon. I made a foot throttle, and a long levered brake rod to haul butt and stop. Still doesnt stop well. I had a 14hp opposed twin on it w/ a 6" engine pulley and a 5 inch on the tranny. Holy *&*^%^# was that thing fast. I was clocked at like 30/35 but it got there instantly. And the wheelies this thing'll ride are awesome. No matter what gear itll wheelie. Now ive took the 14hp twin off and gave it to a buddy who had to get himself a toro after riding mine and im rebuilding my 16 hp vanguard. Ive ported the heads already, bought new piston rings b/c i broke one when i first tryed to put it back together, got a mikuni flat slide carb off an atv at the junkyard to mount, and have the entire gasket set. Thge only thing i need to do b4 reassembly is hone the cylinders.

But im not giving up on my original fourlink idea either. Since trashing my craftsman ive goten adjustable coilover shocks, bunches of tie rod ends for the links and found some better transaxles and parts so maybe another mower might be victim someday.

Yeah, you're definately going to have to upgrade the brakes on that thing. Now are you planning on running this thing legally?

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.
