Dont smash that hydro yet, open it up, see if you can fix it easy, they sale for a good price on ebay.
if you wanna put the larger tires on the front, make some new spindles with a longer axle shaft. While your at that, make sure ALL slop is out of the steering, and the tierod ends are good and strong!!
the big problem with puttin rear wheels on the front, are the keyed rear rims, they will destroy the spindles unless you can get a bush or bearing between the rim and the spindle.

actually george has 3/4 keyed fronts on his power wheels jeephasent had a problem as long as u pack it with grease and dont ever go over 20 mph makes for good front breaks when they lock up tho :P
has he looked at the spindles lately?
-Phil
nope the wheels still roll nice
Don't just rig the rear rims on the front without bearing or at least busings, it's not really all to safe and I don't feel like getting into a safety and reliability discussion as of right now.
I say sell the hydro on eBay and with that money you can buy cool stuff. Like a 700 and live axle setup :-D
what would a hydro sell for??? I think it works good...i know that it was wining then i put some automatic tranny fluid in it and it seems to work good now but i dont know how ones supposed to work so i could compare them...and as for the rear rims...im not gonna put them on the front...imma juss leave it as it is and use it to beat the hell out of and what not
Well if you're just gonna beat the hell out of it and what not, why are you wasting our time on this forum answering your questions? This forum is for those that are seriously race inclined, if you are not, then you are wasting our time!
Well I mean Im going to put a Peerless transaxle in it and run the hell out of it...I'll take care of it but i can't really build a race mower without a plasma cutter and a welder so...theres nothing i can do about it either...and if this is just about racing mowers why is there a section on here for atlm then???
The ATLM section resides here to determine interest in forming a legitimate, ORGANIZED All Terrain Lawn Mower Association, and establish the basis thereof with rules and regulations to play by.
It is not an acronym for "I'm a Backyard Basher with a Cool Hangout on a Lawn Mower Racing Forum!"
Preach it brother Rocky!

Whats the rules and regualtions then??? I bought me a tether the other day...I have a helmet from when I had a 4-wheelers...I got most of the slack out of the steering...I do believe I am following the rules by which ATLM riders go by and if not please inform me because I completely unaware of any rules other than saftey issues by which ATLM riders obide by
As of right now we're working on the rules for the ATLMA, if you want a good idea about building your mowchine - follow my build thread.
Well I can offer some assistance for you to put those front tires on your mower you pretty much need to build a race style front end such as George would sell at EC with 5/8 or 3/4 spindles that are long enough to go right threw. Not you can build your own but without a welder you will have a hard time. Now to make a 3/4 fit a 5/8 get your self some tranny bushings and those will make up the difference.
o0o OK i appreciate it 300xdeere
More than half the people on this forum have built extremely successful mowchines with out a welder and torch. It can be done just a little more money.
yeah...well i didnt know that...

has anybody ever done anything with one of those zero turn mowchines before...i was just wondering because someone told me they seen it but i didnt believe them
Mtdrider is right. I don`t have a welder so i took my steering assembly to a local welding shop. Using the stock steering shaft i got a reliable direct steer setup for 15$

If you ash me 15 to be safe is worth it. Also i have seen a zero turn but it is not worth it. I believe it is hydro which is not good.
