I have a Murray 2 cycle tiller model #11050X6B. the brass gear in the gearcase wore-out. I pressed it off of the shaft to get a new one, but I can only order the whole gearbox new ($220) and not just the brass worm gear. the tiller new only cost $189. Does anyone know where I can get this part new or even used?

Maybe if you know someone with a mill they could machine you one? Or you could try places like Mcmastercarr, they seam to have everything.

Lol, you can, and actually you can make a worm gear on a cnc mill, but the specialized tooling would cost more than the gear is worth. Although gears are not hard to make, they take special tools that generally cause a single gear to get very expensive!

There are many different types of cnc machines for making different types of parts, they range in cost from as little as $8000 to millions, literally. Our latest was $2.5 million!

WOW 2.5m, must take quite a few sales to make that back  lol

I thought my tech schools $22,000 CNC mill was a lot.
