Today i was doing some steering work on my mower, when i noticed my old head unit sitting off to the side with some 6" door speakers (was hooked up with a computer power supply but i had to take the power supply back). Anyways, i was just thinking how crazy it would be to have a stereo system on your mower, is this by any chance against any rules? I am planning on doing it, and re-routing my exhaust to the rear bumper with one of my homemade mufflers, so that the main engine noise is behind me while i drive. Anyone see any problems with this idea? i figure i may need to have an extra back-up batter incase the head unit takes up too much power. I highly doubt i would have a power problem though, this head unit has 4 outputs and is rated at 200w max, and since we all know 200w max means like 100w max i'll be using no more than 25-50w.

Only problem I see is that if it gets wet/muddy it can very easily short out. Other than that, it's not against any rules and I actually like the idea. I use to have a stereo system in my golf cart many years ago. I say do it and take pictures!

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

Sounds good, i just got my mower running (been sitting for a long time with no hood or engine shroud) and its pretty loud, so i figured if i straight piped it and used one of my homemade mufflers out the back, it would bring the noise away from me. I have about a month to completely finish my mower before we move (just a few miles away), but i wont have a workshop there for a while. There are lots of building regulations, so it will probably take me about a year to get it all together and build it. Anyways, if i do get it in there i'll definitely take some pics.
