Whatsup guys, new here from vermont. Im building my first off-road mower, i used to ride them around stock back when i was a little kid, but then i got out of it, built a few go karts, and then recently i decided it would be fun to restore and modify one of my childhood mowers which has been sitting for quite a few years now. I went to heymow originally but someone from there told me about this site so here i am!

After 5 posts you will be out of the cage. Tell us a little about yourself and your mower. What class do you plan to run it?
Just a suggestion: When setting up the pulley swap, its a good idea not to aim for a high high speed, you want to ensure that you will still have the power to climb hills and so on.

Well my names Dante, i've always loved building, fixing and modifying things, i got my first mower when i was 7. It was one of those 8hp rear engine Ariens, with friction drive, got it for free because the person couldnt start it, I took the flywheel off and the key was sheared, after that it ran like a champ. The mower im doing right now was one of my childhood mowers, its a "servistar" mower made by murray, 11.5 briggs flathead, i was given this one with a bad deck when i was a kid (i think around 9). I ran it like a go kart with no mods around our farm for years then the flywheel gear finally went and its been sittin ever since. So far i've prepped the tranny (920 peerless, 7 spd), started the new front end out of some old sled parts, and re-wired it so the battery is under the dash instead under the seat. I'm not positive what class i'll end up doing, i was planning on making it first then deciding class later.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.
