hey guys, im gonna be your typical newbie here cause ive got a few questions.

im thinking about aquiring a 1973 simplicity tractor. it has a 3 speed hydro transmition. now ive been told to take this out and put it on ebay and buy the peerles 820. theres a link on here for one a like $189 or something. is this right?

will removing the governor help?

and im not going to say that i dont want to spend money, cause i will, but i think that everyone doesnt want to over spend on something. so what are my next steps to getting the best bang for my buck?

any help would be awesome. thanks guys

Pull the hydro, sell it and get yourself a "geared" setup. Most people like to run live axles and a 700, but an 820 transaxle is just fine.

And there's a bunch of things you need to do other than just removing the governor.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

Sell that hydro,  you should be able to get a pretty good price for it over on ebay. I personally would go with a Peerless 500 or 700 and a live axle, BUT the peerless 820 transaxle is just as good as they are.

Before removing any governor, please make sure you have read the rules. And understand that removing the governor will shorten the life of your motor.
