Do you let your front axle assembly pivot in its mount or do you weld or bolt it solid like the racers do ???
Might sound stupid but I do not know.

All of the off-road guys lock their axles solid like the roundy round guys...

 MOWchanic, what is the reason for locking the front axle? I can see it for the racers, but looks like letting
the front end pivot/float would be better in MUDD?

The best thing to do IMO would be some sort of a suspension setup like from a 4-wheeler. Something I was considering for the Wizard (before I decided to go full custom suspension when I get the chance) was to hack the front axle in half, and have it pivot at two points so each side would be independent from another; then add a motorcycle shock on the end for spring/dampening purposes.

When I would off-road the Toro before I had the front axle welded solid it was downright scary, after welding the axle it was much more stable.
