these guys are using fo-4 ac-3 and fo-14 mufflers from Tractor supply (costing around $19-30)  to get better flow than stock exhaust on quads, I see a good engine size parallel, between 400 and 800 cc (my 17.5 is 500cc)... most of these guys had to re-jet the fuel system to a larger jet, but along with the better exhaust had noticeable gains in power. looking at the site it seems a "common" mod there. I have ordered an fo-4 and will take pics when I get back next week. I'm thinking this would make a good muffler for my ride, they are designed (unlike a car) to be closer to an engine, so this should be better for heat issues as well.

That's an interesting idea, I'd rock it but I have room for nothing other than my stock exhaust setup on the 'ol toro

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

I hear that... its more for us in the experimental class! I've got room for it, plus the buggy needs to quiet down.

I might have to run a pair with some flappers on them when I get to the Wizard! That would be some funny stuff right there!  bigsmile

www.ruralking.com has some of those also...

If I remeber right the inlet pipe is about 1 1/2" on one of them... just can't remember which one.

I thought about this on my setup, but didn't think a 14.5 would be a big enuf engine for it... :(

from what I've seen from my work (I work at rural king) just about any smaller tractor exhaust would help. they have some out there that would work on just about anything (premade 90's, 180 bends, etc.) just a matter of finding the right pipe setup to run.
