I've been thinking.... (bad thing bigsmile )

an idea for a recovery mower.

take a ZTR frame, remove the front end(swivels)and deck, and mount solid wheels (freewheeling) and put tracks on it

it'd drive just like an M1 and be almost impossible to get stuck, plus ZTR's already go good enough speeds for trail riding.

heck, you probably could put a crane on the back and still be sittin good.

be kinda pricey (ebay ZTR $2000+, tracks at another $1000), but would be awesome to build..

whaddya think

just buy a ZTR tranny, I've seen them new as little as 400, put that on a frame like mine you'd be making tracks like crazy...

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

haha, right up to the part where the ARGO was amphibious! (could float, some even had props)

a 6-8 tired monster would be almost as awesome as a tank track, and at least a few hundred cheaper, I may have to work on one, I do have a big opposed that needs a job, the go cart might have a buddy if I'm not careful!

I thought about that too!! just wondered about using only one set of drive wheels (guess you could chain drive it to the others, since it's using a ZTR tranny)be interesting driving to/from the trails
