I got one one these free, along with some other mower bits, hard starter though, looks to be about 600cc's won't fit the cart, was thinking about either selling or turning it into a boat motor (long story)

I went over and looked at the mower today, its a 19.5hp opposed twin, not a v-twin, looks in great shape, its not a hard starter, just too small a battery for a big engine, we jumped it off a car battery it started right up.

I need the transaxle for my mowing mower (so I can finally have brakes) I may save this monster engine until I find something better to do with it. the mower needs a new deck

or I'm going to move my deck to this mower, and have a spare kohler to tinker with..kohler is only 14 hp, but I don't really need that much motor, on the other hand, the bigger motor mower is in MUCH better shape than mine, so I'll just have to see what I can come up with.

heres my idea...

Use what you need to make the best grass cutter you can, then use the extra bits and make yourself an ATLM.

my mower now is ok, but it has no brakes, the screw holding the caliper broke inside the tranny, which is fine for ATLM since i'd have to go axle rigs, but the newer one has a bad deck... I considered putting the transaxle into my mower, and using the new one as an ATLM (mower fun) both have body carnage of some sort, the newer one has less, but I have no mower pride about mowing lawns, so its ok (I'm not King of the hill material) I'll probably end up just swapping decks.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.
