I am going to put my build on here soon.I gotta get it up to your guys safety specs first.I dont know how long that will take but hopefuly i get it done soon.It is a 1990's craftsman with a peerless 800 5speed in it.I have 22 inch tires on the back with chains which i take off occasionaly for smoother ride and 18 inch on the front.The 18s where the original back tires.I locked my front end and welded my spider gears.My motor is a 15.5 governed b&s that is stock.I have a 2 1/2 inch pulley on back and stock on front.In process of buying brakes for it.Still got stock steering to which is why i aint posting the build yet.A few pics to come tomorow hopefuly.

Ditch that front pulley for your own good! The darn thing is so small that any amount of moisture makes it slip.

I am going to ditch it.As soon as I get a 5 inch for the motor I am going to get a 5 inch for the transaxle.Should be a good enough ratio.I am not going to be able to get pics today because of the freezing rain.Should be able to get them tomorow

Sounds somein like my old mower. Mine had a 3 speed reverse with a hi and lo though, so it actually had 6 gears and 2 revers speeds. It also had a 18 hp oppossed twin koler. Man i was a fool to get rid of it. Good luck with your build though. What class you goin for.

here are a few pics of what it looked like a few months ago.  the motor  the machine  It now has 18 inch tires on the front and chains on the back.And that p800 with hubs is out of an ol johndeere.I got the tractor for free and the original trans had the spider gears draging on the ground so i changed it the first day i got it.

this is how it looks now. This is list of things i am going to do to it. I am going to change the motor cuz that one tachs out on its own. I am putting brakes on the rear axle. Hand or foot throttle. New seat Hood Make linkage to transaxle so i dont half to shift it with a wrench. Steering system from an old johndeer.Much safer than the current setup. and thats my list for things to do to it for now... Posted on: March 07, 2008, 12:41:13 PM

Gotta raise that transaxle up about 2" so it'll sit nice and level  Your motor tachs itself out? Sounds like you may have a problem with your governor. Probably just mis-adjusted - my twin2 did that when i mis-adjusted the governor

I thought the governor was messed up to so i disconected it just to see and it still did it.I am going to just change it.I am going to get that 15hp that came on it going again.And yea I am probly going to lower the rear axle 2 inches so it sits level and does less wheelies.

Does anyone know why i half to keep opening and closing the throtle to keep my motor runing?And why does it tach out and die when its not under load? Posted on: March 08, 2008, 03:33:32 PM oh if i open the choke all the way it just tacks out and dies.So i have been runing partial choke.It runs ruff though except when clutch is in then it tachs out.

on the bottom of the carb bowl is a screw, fiddle with it and bit (hold it wide open and start turning it in, if it doesnt get better then adjust it out) see if that corrects the problem.

Your carb is dirty more than likely, clean it out REAL good, or like Phil said swap it for a better model. If you still have problems, start checking for intake leaks.

Ok i changed that jet on the botom of the bowl to an adjustable one.And yea i did get it to run a bit better.But it still wasnt right.SO i decided to put an airbreather on it and wow did that make it difference.I still tachs a bit but not even close to what it use to.RUns fine.I still gota open and close the throtle ocasionaly but not very often.When i take off i have to rev her up and let the clutch out slowly but once i am going i can back the thotle off a bit and it dont smoke and sputter.But I am getting some money nexxt week so i can finaly get brakes for this thing.Will post pics of them.Tomorow i am going to put those johndeere steering gears in as i said i would.Will get pics of original gears and the johndeer gears.Bare with me though cuz i am on dialup. band brakes are junk, you get 'em wet and their useless. Also the "pads" will wear out real quick if you get 'em dirty.

as far as i am conserned all brakes are junk when wet.But i was just wondering if you guys approved of band brakes.My moped had them and it did 40mph.But i want to follow your rules and that is why i asked.

Worst that could happen is that i half to down shift.Which my tranny seems to handle real well as long as you dont go down to fast.I have been running the same transaxle for 3 years now.Peerles 800.Didnt even have oil in it till last fall.And i was running speeds of 30mph with it.And thing is still not broke.I inspect it every now and then.It can obviously handle downshifting because i have done it alot with it.But thanks for the concern Chris.I am trying to make it safe as possible with what money and stuff i do have.

Yeah i had to do that when i was running my 5 h.p. It was geared to do 30mph back then to.I put brand new oil in that motor and not even a day later it is black as can be and realll thin...Tells ya that motor was working hard to turn them wheels.But i just remembered i cant down shift at the moment.Need to make another shift linkage.So it dont rub on the belt.

Alright i just picked up a old yardman that had a blown 8 h.p briggs and a P600!!! So I wont be using the p800 any more.I should have pics of updates soon hopefuly.I have been fighting with my 15..h.p ohv and wiring the machine.Thats why i aint got much done lately.I really need a motor as the 1 I got smokes really bad out the exhaust and shoots oil out the breather still.I think i blew another headgasket...So i am done with it.I want a different motor.

Today i fabricated a gas pedal and hooked it all up.And found out what was wrong with my motor...blown headgasket..And got my choke all hooked up.Welded my hood hinges back on to the hood and put it on.Pics to come tomora hopefuly.

Hey Chriss that surplus center sight is awesome..Thats the cheapest i ever seen pulleys.I just ordered a 4inch single grove for the motor and trans.SO i am still 1 to 1 pulley ratio.And the transaxle is 9 to 1 so i end up with a 9 to 1 ratio.I am working on getting pics up...i havent been able to because i am redoing my garage.

That's what I have on the Toro, a 1:1 radio with 6 1/2" dual groove pulleys - I'll never have belt slip issues  I'm not 9:1 anymore though becuase I did my gearing with the chain sprockets

Yea I would do dual grove pulleys but it is twice the hassel.Like the clutch idlers.Will they bolt on to the stock clutch?
