I have a few question for you guys... 1. What are most trannys gears made of? Cast iron or Cast Steel ? 2. Will a nickel brazen rod work just like a welder to lock a trany diff? 3. How will it hold up?
I saw where most guys weld the gears but wasnt sure how it was holding up? Also saw where alot of guys put 4 spider gear in the bull gear to make it a locked diff.... Just wanted to see what was going to be the easiest option here...

go with 4 gears!!!! SO much easyer!!!! becasie if you weld it.. you can end up warping it.. and then youll have a tight tranny.. not good!!!
i had 4 gears in my racer the first year.. and i drove it around off road.. NEVER broke it.. and before that it was welded.. and i broke it withina week....
i highly sugest 4 gears...

I too would suggest the 4 gear option, unless it something that you'll be upgrading further down the line. I welded the teeth in the differential together in my toro before I upgraded the tires and axles, and it worked really well and I beat the crap out of it on the trails. It kind-of worked like a limited slip, because it would let the outside tire turn more than the inside until it got to a certain point. Having the 4 gears in there will fully lock it up like a live axle though, so keep those two in mind.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

yup.. do you know how to do it?
you need al 4 EXACT same gears..and you need to grind a bit off oposite sides..
do it all on the bench first.. it take some time and patience!!!

I know someone that welded the diff. in there IMOW and it broke the night before race day because it was welded crooked and the casing had a nice little hole in it. He just ran like that the whole day, with whatever oil could stay in it.
