that thing looks like it is nice and comfortable to ride...And its not to big so it can fit through all the trails...I wanna build one now.Just i will probly use a 3 wheeler motor/trans.I know why you used tractor drivetrain but i couldnt see building such a nice machine and puting a weak drive system in.How much stress have you put on the drivetrain?ANd have you had any problems with the drivetrain?

Weak?!!? Dude you need to come on a trial ride with me sometime. I beat the living daylights out of the Wizard and the Toro. Broke both drivetrains, but only after heavy heavy abuse. The Wizard survived a 50mph jump with 3' of air and a barrel roll afterwards with no problems (other than the one that caused it to barrel roll - heh). If it's weak, then you just need to build it stronger.

And if you do that with a 3-wheeler you won't have reverse.

Thats the thing Chriss...this motor has reverse...and 5 speeds forward and auto clutch. But i am going to try at tractor drive train first to see how it holds up.

ok.. no pics today because I'm a prick, working on a............................rear suspension!

I've been poor at updating/posting since my son was born, I'm sorry about that, but I have been lurking and keeping tabs quietly.

I now only get 2 days every two weeks I can work on the buggy, and thats the slow down.

Things I've done since I last updated.....

Changed/simplified my alternator mount
bigger main rollbar tube due to rolling/bending
added top tubes for back rollbar
probably more I can't remember
started on swingarm suspension for rear.

new rear swing arm in place, not aligned, or finished, but photos to see....
I think it looks sweet, about 4 inches of travel at ride height, its about 7" if you get it airborne, which is why we did rear suspension (1 axle in the garbage)

the whole cart got about a 3" lift, which makes it look much meaner, even though the tires look too small, its still a beast. I lifted the front by altering the original shock mount, I also moved the top of the shock closer to straight up and down, which will give me a bit firmer ride (it was too  soft before anyway)

this is a pic of the custom coil over shocks are from an 1991 s-10 front end, springs are the $20 load assist springs, I think the buckets are  pretty darn nice as well, My brother in law fabbed those up, and they came out fantastic IMO. thnx for looking.

I want to add

I'm sorry I've been MIA, the kid is a full time job when I'm home, and though I do get to lurk, it seems right about the time I'm thinking about posting, he's trying to eat something that shouldn't be eaten. I'm going to try and get more diligent. as is he getting past the 10 month mark its getting easier. My buggy did not get worked on for 6 weeks in a row, this was my first opportunity to work on it in a while, and we (me and my brother in law) did about 90% of the changes inside 12 hours yesterday... it was quite a feat.

That thing is cool! Why didn't you use rear helper coilovers? Then you wouldn't nee the buckets. I see it worked out well though, very cool

I already owned the $20 helpers, the shocks were $16.46 at advanced (FYI on sale for your S-10 project) so it was cheaper I guess... and it looks nice and custom (and it was cheaper, lol)

PROGRESS UPDATE! new gas tank due to.. umm.. stress cracks? and finished suspension, thanks to the propane industry for making sealed steel containers cheap as hell. thanks for looking I do have a non ATLMA approved backyard video on my photobucket folder these pics are in, its poor quality though, only had my cell phone with me. I also got the suspension functional, but it will be getting beefier QA1 springs PDQ (they are already here, but too much other stuff done this weekend!)  due to tight space, my brother in law (driver) couldn't get past 3rd gear(we don't use 1st), but thats ok, still fun to check out! thanx for looking
