Hi, can any one tell me where I can get information on a Spicer 4360-121 transaxle. Would it be any better than a Peerless 801 transaxle. question

I have been told the Spicer is a 6 speed and want to know what the actual over all ratio is in top gear?

I am thinking about building a 4 wheel drive ATLM using 2 transaxles, 1 engine mid mounted on 2 triangular frames. with a transaxle at both ends. A design a bit like an industrial loader, with the pivot point in the middle of both "A" frames being the engine mount and the steering mount. I have a peerless 801 on my current ATLM and have another in my shop.

I would use both 801's in the 4 wheel drive and put the Spicer in my current machine.

the 801 peerless is alot better than the spicer. The spicer should hang in there if you keep it under 23mph or so.And i think the ratio of the spicer is 9-1 in high gear.

Thanks Guy's. I'm also looking at using 2 single speed transaxles and running them as a varidrive setup. Figure it would be less work to cobble together a 4x4 with a varidrive and mid mounted engine. (Still in the consideration process)

Just to let you know those single speed transaxles have very slow ratio and you have to overdrive them hard to get anyspeed. And they cant even handle a 9-1 ratio for long.So if you use those for your fourwheeldrive setup keep it under 10 mph or you will blow them up.

If your talking about the MTD 618 transaxles with F-N-R, they will hold up to anything, we had a 8'' on motor and 4'' on tranny, and it worked fine, took the RPMS without a problem.  Even without a clutch that tranny held up fine.  I still have it too, I just dont have a mower to put it in.
