Well I'm going to make my Sears into a legal offroader.  Most likely for Supermod class.  List of upgrades in order: mech. disk brakes, springs on front axle, new hood w/new light bar, increase speed, add hidden muffler.  took the engine pulley off today for the first time, had to borrow a gear puller, the shaft is 1 1/8''.  Then tried taking the rear hubs off and, damn part of it snapped off.  I'm not sure what im going to do now, I guess try putting some heat on it, ive already soaked it WD40 and PB.

If the sears has 1" rear axles, you can get a set of hubs off a wheel horse, cub cadet, gravely, or any of the larger mowers with the 5 lug bolt pattern.

Any chance you have some laying around?  I tried again today to get that hub off.  Broke another lug off, so im just going to stick the wheel back on it, and get it out of the garage until i get hubs.

Well Its been a little while. but i havnt solved the hub problem yet, i know how to get the off but they'll be completly destroyed so i'm still looking for replacements.  But i tore the engine down, it needed a new set of rings now im just waiting for my cylinder hone to come in.  That motor was in excellent shape on the inside.

if you smear axle grease(or any grease that is thick) around the axle and inside the hub tube on the next set, it'll help if you have to get it apart later. sorry you'll have to destroy it, they stick on me all the time too. one thing that I find helps a little sometimes is tapping the hub with a hammer, not really hard, just to give it the vibration/slight movement, then use the pullers, if you get it to move even 1/32 of an inch with the hammer(even if its in the wrong direction), the puller will prevail usually.

and use an impact gun if you have one, the impacts help as well, but use the hammer first.

Yea, i know if even get them move just a tiny bit, then im good, but those SOB's are on there.  I've tried tapping them with a hammer, repeadtly.  What i'm going to to is take my stick welder and crank it up and weld beads all they way around the hub to get some extreme heat into it, then try breaking it off with a hammer.  And if i cant break it off, im going to weld on it again, stand back with a garden hose and spray it with cold water, i know that will get it off, or at least crack it.
