well I tried to... we were going to a big riding park this weekend, this morning to be exact, so I figure I'll make a rear hoop bumper since the big riding parks can be alot more dangerous since you don't know who will be around.

well... I'm not riding right now, and won't be for a few weeks. apparently cutting your the shin of your leg open with an angle grinder and getting 9 stitches on a 3 inch (and deep) gash means your wife says no (only cuz the doctor said no too) I am now on 2-3 days leg up duty and stiches are in for at least 13 days.

I'm doing fine though a little sore of course, and we all need to learn an important lesson from this...

DON'T CUT YOU LEG OPEN WITH AN ANGLE GRINDER OR YOU CAN'T GO RIDING!!!!

and be careful with tools, the reason I got cut was because I was cutting (using the cutting blades) the hoop with one hand, standing on the bottom of the piece and balancing it with the other hand. it bound up as it was finishing, and 13000 rpm makes for a heck of a kickout. I know I know, stupid move, it happens to the best of us.

on the plus side, I made a new sig pic and avatar yesterday, so at least I look cool laid up accomplishing nothing.

truth is, it didnt hurt that much, I walked myself in and out of the hospital, I did ruin a shoe and a sock, and they said the bed sheet in the ER was probably a write-off (lots of blood)

I am however blessed with an unreasonably high pain tolerance, if it hadn't hit a vein, I probably would've let it heal on its own(and surely not missed a good riding day). I got my anti-biotic shot and some anti-biotic pills. I get my tetanis (sp?) every 3-5 years needed or not.

the doctor took x-rays and found I had "non-injury related" foreign matter in my leg, no suprise there to me anyway. probably from where I shattered part of my shin when I was 18.. NOW THAT HURT.

I'm not totally manly man though, I got light headed on the table when they were cleaning the wound (bled really good for that) and stitching me back up, though I could always blame that on loss of blood.

if any of you are into medical stuff, I bled through two stacks of what looked like about 8-10 4" gauze pads in a few minutes when I was in triage, haha I also got admitted no waiting, always nice to be at the top of the triage list.

:doh:I leaning over my work I was grinding on......the front of my shirt got caught in the grinding wheel one time. No blood, terrible burn though on my stomach.... watch loose clothing and Always wear safety glasses. Even with my safety glasses, occasionally a piece of metal will make it in there. omg I hate it when that happens on a Fri. night and I have to suffer with it all weekend till Mon. morn.when my eye doctor gets in.( My insurance does not cover ER very much). Lord I could tell you stories of the stupid stuff I have done in the shop.......So don't feel bad.    Hope you get better soon.   Tom

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.
