I am building a craftsman ATLM....... 14 HP briggs, 6 sp transaxle. I know....... I plan on having pictures. I am still in the mock-up stage. I am having problems with the clutch set-up. I have added a pedal on the right side, so that I can have a seperate clutch/brake setup. With the pulley changes, extra pedal, and the fact that there were no pulleys on this frame.... I am having to design a clutc set-up for this mower. Any suggestions? I would like to see some pictures of how many of yours are done. Maybe that will push me in the right direction Thanks, Tom

Do you have any stock mowers that you can mimic the design off of?

Well theres not really any big secrets or anything, the stock clutch designs work and those manufacturers come up with some pretty good ideas.

George over on Heymow has by far the best clutch setup IMO

Finally have the clutch stuff figured out. It may need a little tweaking though. I had to put a brace near the rear-end to mount my clutch pulleys on. That is where my trouble was, because of the pedal(for brake) that I added, I was out of space in the front. Posted on: August 04, 2007, 09:31:57 PM
Here it is. Pretty simple I just stress too much.

Got to try it out today, For about 50 feet. As you can see in the picture above, the belt looks pretty rough,it didn't make it. Since I have to buy a new belt anyway...... I think I am going to put an even bigger pully on the motor. The pulleys on it now are both 5" and I could tell(from the 50 feet) I want to have A little more speed in 6th gear. Good tires are no good if you can't get the mud slung out of them. Back to the ol' drawing board! Posted on: August 05, 2007, 09:57:45 AM
Put the bigger pulley on the motor and found that would push the belt into the bracket for mounting my second pedal. Nuts.I guess I will keep it the same. Welded up the front end though. Hope to start thread in new builds soon. I still have to do the steering.

Go with the red ones, they're built much better. I go through the green ones like they're water sometimes.
