I just bought another website (like I don't have too many as it is) that's going to be a photo gallery... I've been weighing my options for photo gallery software, and I've limited it down to a few. I have some demos of what the software looks like running, and would like everyone's opinion on what you think is the best...

Coppermine:            http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/
4Images:                http://demo.4homepages.de/?l=english
Gallery:                  http://www.johnnyroyale.net/blog/wp-gallery2.php
Gallery2:                http://www.tampaairportpictures.com/picgal2/main.php

(Last two are same software, different setups)

Also checking out a few website templates that look promising...

gallery = good
coppermine= good too.

I had issues with the back end of 4images when I set it up. your server might be setup better though.
I do like that coppermine has multimedia support (not just photos). Gallery and coppermine are clean and simple, either is a good choice for pics

Well you didn't state your intent to so that makes choices more difficult. It should however be geared toward your target market Chris. I assume you're looking at showing off, or possibly even trying to sell some of your scenery pictures on this site, not post all of those pictures of drunk half nekkid girls you have! For that reason I'm going to say...

Personally I'd go with Template 5, followed by Gallery. Template 5 is the most refined and dignified of the bunch. It wreaks of professionalism. And, Gallery simply appears the easiest to work into the look and feel of the #5 template.

Template 1 isn't bad either, but red is a hot color. It excites people, it agitates people, it expresses danger, it conveys emotion, it does NOT convey trust well. Color psychology can make or break a store on the web, if that's where you're headed with this. The Blacks and Browns seen in template 5 convey a great deal more trustworthiness, and command the viewers' respect.

Templates 2 and 3 are contructed of NUMEROUS overlapping divs, and they would be very easy to break! You gotta love CSS to work with templates of that nature. And, I'm not talking a little... You gotta love it a LOT! Likewise, sites of that nature lend perceptions of being VERY BUSY, which if you're trying to sell pictures of the peace and serenity of the local countryside, you don't really want that. Because... if you spin them up on the homepage, then throw them out in the woods, they're going to be apt to want to rush out of the woods. You need a more peacefull relaxing atmosphere going into your store when trying to sell pictures, as compared to trying to sell high tech electronics. Different market there altogether dude.

Template 4 is too plain, unless of course you ARE going to be posting all the pictures of the drunk half nekkid girls you have, in which case nobody's gonna give a *poopie* what the web site looks like no how!

Thanks for the input man wink

I suck at CSS, like to the point where I don't know *poopie* about it! So yeah, I think I'll stay away from those two!

hahaha, no drunk half-naked girls... Well maybe half-naked girls, but not drunk sloppy pictures! Going to try to get more into people photography while I'm at it too... Don't know if it helps or not, but you can see my DevaintArt gallery to get a sample of some of the pictures I'd be posting....
