Hey guys, names Dakota.

Ive had a John Deere 216 sitting around and as of last week when I came across HeyMow and now this site Im getting her running! Ive decided its way to unsafe to make into of these racers hitting 40mph+, so I wanted to make it a off-roader. Keep it around stock speed for sure, about 10mph, maybe make it go 15 but that would be top end. Im pretty much gonna keep it stock, maybe pipe it, have to get new tires seeing as they are turfies. Im gonna paint it for sure.

So what do you guys think about the whole deal. Should I go all for it and do everything that can be done or just keep er stock and put some tires and an exhaust?

Oh p.s. as far as where I would be taking it, its just mostly mud not really bumpy, ATV trailish I guess you could say.

Thanks,
Dakota

Well The first thing you should do is read the forum rules and read the ATLMA rules.  And decide if you want to build it for a specific class.  And Welcome to the ATLMA!!

WELCOME TO ATLMA!!

Please, read the ATLMA rules and forum rules.

Your Deere idea sounds great for a Limited Class build, which is a "slow" near stock class for those people just wanting to hit the trails and mud cheap.

Please, if theres any wuestions you have, fee free to ask.

Keeping it limited. Im starting tonight shopping for the things stated in the rules that are all class mandatory, as for the exhaust, anyone have a range of the decibel limit that will be determined? I was thinking of running a pipe to the back and then attaching the muffle so the exhaust flows out the back instead of right into my face like it is now (stock! roll).

We dont know what the decibel level is yet, but keep it in the range of a stock lawn mower until we come up with a number.

I know this thread is a tad old, but I would suggest perhaps the 96db limit required for off road motorcycles and atv's, that's not too loud, but not so restrictively quiet you can't have a decently free flowing exhaust.
