i have an ancient (most likely late 70's) B&S 11hp. it starts easy as pie but if you shut it off it is dang near impossable to restart untill it is cool. all help would be apreciated.

find a newer coil, that doesnt use the points system. we had the same problem with a twin briggs, we replaced the coil and plugs and it ran like a top...

Correct, creepy has the right idea. You need a new coil. The Briggs opposed twins are bad about doin what you have discribed. Just find yourself anothe coil, new or used, and you problem will be fixed.

i had a briggs and stratton with a bad coil and the exact thing happened

i got  a coil for you its from a 12hp i think tho but it will work all 10 11 and 12s are universial

Yes some older models of briggs motors came with both.
