recently i was booted from heymow for this topic so ill try it hear. i picked up a four wheel steer craftsman and was looking for some thoughts and opinions on it if you want diagrams go to http://www3.sears.com/then type in model number 536255870 i will post pics by this weekend Posted on: May 01, 2007, 11:08:14 AM
to clarify a little more at 11 mph forcing the rear end out from under you s not such a bad deal but once you get up to a speed where you can force a skid this becomes bad so the main thought would be at what speed does how much rear steer become unsafe as of now i know dirt trackers weaken the left rear suspension to make that side of the rear axle move forward on acceleration now i need to know how much and any other thoughts you may have

The parts page really dosn't help much, but if you had pictures - that would help out a bunch.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

If you could control the rear steer seperate that would be much better. But as far as 4 wheel steering for offroading I think it would be awesome.Get some pics of so we can see the durability of it.

I agree that 4 wheel steering would be a plus offroad, as long as you can control is separately from the regular steering, such as a separate "Switch" to control its left and right movement. They do this with the big monster trucks.

just flipped it over and it looks like the rear axle and its components have been swapped http://www.flickr.com/photos/7345270@N05/480815872/ you can see the secondary steering (half moon deal whatever its called) but here is the drawing from sears http://www.flickr.com/photos/7345270@N05/480826920/interesting but i don't need it because it would all have to be modified anyway ie.... swap in a 600 axle or 700 trans anyway i plan on calling the guy i got it from to see if he has the other parts i put an ad at the beer store for free junk mowers he called and said i could have three if i also got rid of some scrap for him i got $100 for the scrap at the bone yard so i got paid $100 to pick up this one and 2 others ohhh i forgot ten bucks in gas too
