for my throttle I'll be using a wheel mounted deal, a toggle shifter for a street bicycle (longer than the thumb ones, but they would be good too). I've posted a link to what I'm using, half of that will be installed without the friction plate (won't bind up) it is not the type that clicks into place (though if you have one, you can grind down the spots that make it click or put in a smooth washer) Mine will be mounted in such a way I can toggle it with my thumb (like a few jet ski's I've tried)

a thumb shifter would be good for people with handlebar rides or wanting something more like what a 4 wheelers got. it can be mounted to darn near anything if you want to bad enough. if you need help, show a pic and I'll help as much as I can.

an important part to remember either of these can be mounted anywhere a nut can be welded on or a hole drilled through. you take it apart, and mount it to the nut/hole instead of the base ring part. this may require grinding, drilling out & a little thought but with what we are already into, it should be childs play. it may require a little spring down at the governor/ carb area for throttle return .. I'd recommend using nylon nuts or double nuts to keep it loose at the shifter/throttle so it doesn't need a heavy spring (or else tired thumbs).

if you use the top one I'm using you may have to buy a full length shifter cable (available at walmart in a brake and shifter cable kit) to get a full length of cable sheath, but thats not a biggy to me.

I never really thought about using a thumb throttle, that's a pretty good idea.

Just because you move up in a class doesn't mean that you'll "loose" the "race", it just means that you're building a better, more capable machine.

Only problem i would have would be its such a small contact area between your thumb and the throttle. Im sure it could be made larger with a plate or something. I personally like a thumb throttle on most thing more than others, and thats what i will be using on my atlm project (thumb throttle off a Honda 3 wheeler).

doesnt seem much smaller than what I've played with on jetskis, but you might be right. I'll let you know.
